Screamline Studio Props

Bloody Axe

When I began the process of setting up a micro budget film studio one challenge was finding affordable props. I discovered a promising website, Screamlinestudios.com. My first trial purchase was the fireman’s axe. The axe arrived two weeks later – all props are custom made when ordered. It had a real wooden handle with a ridged foam head. The axe was distressed to give it an aged appearance and splattered with shiny blood paint. The blood was dry but appears tacky to the touch giving it a fresh appearance. I was very happy with this purchase.

Weapon SetMy followup purchase was the butcher’s clever. Instead of foam the clever was made of fiberglass and painted exactly like the axe. A couple weeks after receiving the clever I noticed a small air bubble under the paint. The bubble was the size of a quarter. I tried pressing it down with my finger, but the paint pealed off. This gave me an opportunity to test Screamline’s customer service. I already placed a new order for another axe, a knife and machete. I emailed Screamline Studios asking if I could return the clever for a touch-up paint job and have it shipped with my new order. I did not receive a response so I emailed a second request, and then a third request. Finally, I called the number listed on my invoice and left a message. A day later my call was returned. I was politely told that I could return the clever. When my third order arrived everything looked great and the butcher’s clever had been repainted.

Butcher CleverI believe Screamline Studio’s target customers are Halloween haunted attractions. Being a single item buyer I feel I’m not exactly a top priority customer, but I was disappointed that my emails went unanswered. It was my only negative experience during these transactions. The props are professional grade. I’m blown away by the quality of each crafted weapon. If you are searching for a Halloween prop, movie prop, wall decoration, or a cool gift idea, then I would recommend buying a Screamline’s prop weapon. These props are crafted as ordered with lead times of 2 to 3 weeks.

cleverThe props are made with high quality material. I put them through a serious of rigorous tests. Please Note: I do not recommend doing the following to your props. Normally, I take great care of my valuables, but I did the following in order to examine the durability. I purposely dropped them dozens of times, tossed them across the room, bounced them down a flight of stairs, smacked them together, and let my dog attack them. The result: Screamline Studio’s props held up. Besides a few cosmetic scratches nothing fell apart and the foam is not breaking down – which happens when cheap foam is used. I’m not making the claim that these props are invincible to damage, but they will hold up under normal wear and tear conditions. I’ve owned props purchased from other suppliers that were damaged beyond further use after only one week. Screamline’s props have last nearly a year and look as good as the day I received them.

KnifeUse caution – don’t let the word prop fool you into thinking these are safe. These props can be potentially dangerous. The handles are solid wood and hitting someone will cause pain and bruises. An accidental poke in the eye with the ridged foam or fiberglass parts could cause serious damage. Be responsible and use all props carefully. I would also not recommend carrying these props openly in public. If you decided to stroll down the street with a bloody axe slung over your shoulder expect to be stopped by a police officer pointing a gun at your face while shouting, “drop the weapon.”

  1. Thanks for the review! Sorry about the response time, no excuse, but we are always on the road working on projects. We try to get back to everyone promptly but sometimes we miss a few. Thanks again for the great review. We look forward to reading other reviews in the future.
